Gregorio Santos, CEO of MAPFRE ASSISTANCE, was recently interviewed by one of the UK’s leading insurance titles Post Magazine about his plans for the company in the UK. The two page article gave an overview of the business under the title “Stepping from the shadows” and highlighted the aspirations for growth over the next year and beyond. For those who did not have the chance to read the article, here is a brief summary:

MAPFRE ASSISTANCE is definitely writing a new chapter and Gregorio Santos explained that two business lines will be at the forefront: speciality risk and travel insurance:
Specialty Risk - with MAPFRE ABRAXAS and MAPFRE WARRANTY
Travel Insurance - with InsureandGo and a corporate partnerships division

Additionally, Gregorio Santos commented on the recent acquisition of InsureandGo and the impending launch of MAPFRE WARRANTY:

“…The UK market for travel insurance is very developed and we want to take advantage of being here.  Part of the plan includes streamlining its product set. MAPFRE will focus InsureandGo’s efforts on the travel front, abandoning products including car, home and life.  In the coming weeks we will launch a new website fully utilised for travel insurance. The overarching UK strategy for InsureandGo is to continue what it is doing in the travel sector. It is very good at doing what it has done so far and we don't want to break that trend.”
